Snowflake Challenge, day 5-7

Day 5

Leave feedback for a fanwork. Or multiple fanworks. It can be as simple as I liked this to a detailed list of all the things you loved about the fanwork. The key is to leave some sort of feedback.

I didn't make a post of it's own for this one, since I felt like it didn't really warrant it. But I left a few more comments on the fabulousness that is [livejournal.com profile] hd_erised! I've sadly had to concede that I won't be able to finish reading in time for reveals (I'm only about halfway through), but I look forward to continue with the rest at my own pace :)

Day 6

In your own space, create your own challenge. What’s something you want to see more people doing in fandom? Is there something you’ve tried that you think other people would enjoy if they gave it a go? Dare your friends to try it out, and have fun with it. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I was thinking of saying the same as last year; making a likes/dislikes-post! I saw [livejournal.com profile] gracerene posted the same challenge too, and I'm tempted to copy her, because those posts are such a great resource. And fun to make!!

And then I also really liked [livejournal.com profile] firethesound's challenge of posting more on LJ. That goes for myself as well. I'd love to see more activity here, especially in the wake of all the holiday fests wrapping up. (omg I'm so excited for [livejournal.com profile] hd_erised reveals tomorrow!)

I tried to see if I could think of something else to suggest, but I really couldn't think of anything (other than really self serving stuff. Anyone wanna share their favourite quick dinner recipe with me?) :P So I'll be a copy-cat for this one.

Day 7

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Hmm. Okay, so I'll do one for 1D fandom and one for Harry Potter fandom, because I really kinda wanna do one for the first, but the latter is my main fandom after all.

Harry Potter:

One of my favourite pieces in the books is the first time Harry enters Diagon Alley. It's just such an important moment, I think. How he sees the world that'll be his new home for the first time; his big eyed fascination and happiness at it. It just warms my heart. Also an interesting first look into the world. Just this:

Harry wished he had eight more eyes. He turned his head in every direction as they walked up the street, trying to look at everything at once: the shops, the things outside them, the people doing their shopping. A plump woman outside an apothecary's was shaking her head as they passed, saying 'Dragon liver, sixteen Sickles an ounce, they're mad ...'
HP & The Philosopher's Stone by JKR

And as a drarry shipper I must mention the Harry, however, had never been less interested in Quidditch; he was rapidly becoming obsessed with Draco Malfoy. because, obviously :)

One Direction:

Obviously, I have to choose the moment that (among other things) brought me in in the first place; Harry Styles' "Not that important".

From 2:19

Basically this:

Interviewer: Favourite trait you look for in a lady?
Liam: Female... that's a good trait.
Harry: *shrugs* Not that important

Also this because it blows my mind! The last part of the interview is so full of blatant sexual innuendo that I can't believe they were actually allowed to say those things in the early days. From 5:35:

--------------------
Can I complain a bit about the cold?! It's sooo fucking cold! And they're saying it'll quite possibly stay that way for the next couple of weeks :/ I had to go down to the basement and dig out my down jacket that makes me look like a violet blob on legs, because my wool coat just didn't cut it anymore. And even though my boots are lined with wool my toes get all stiff and achey when I walk out. When it was at it's coldest it felt like the inside of my nose was freezing when I breathed in and the bones in my face ached. And we're not even close to the kinds of temperatures they're experiencing further inland. I don't understand how they survive; this is more than enough for me.

On a brighter side I'm LOVING the countdown for BBC Sound of 2016 this year! I adore NAO who placed 3rd and I can't wait for her to release an album, and Alessia Cara who placed second today covered Disclosure in the Live Lounge and it was absolutely brilliant. I'm expecting Jack Garratt to win since he didn't take any of the other top 5 spots. Something else would surprise me greatly, since he's got by far the most exposure this autumn. Not undeserved even if I think I prefer NAO. Anyway. I love new music ♥

Hahahaha poor thing! Are there pictures of the violet blob? Here it's finally getting sort of properly cold, around freezing point, and I adore it when you step outside and the air feels all crispy cold and your face gets prickly and blushing by the fresh cold air. But that's probably peanuts compared to you (I'm still wearing my all stars, albeit with hiking socks in it... Nobody sees...).

And yeah the list of likes! I love how you all want that, I feel so arrogant in a way because who would even write fic or draw art for me? I think I need that psychological barrier out of the way first.

And oh my, can I provide you with quick dinner recipes.... I'm so tempted to throw a hundred recipes at you now (and I probably will, by the way). Give me a list of likes and loves, and I'm sure I can come up with enough to keep you eating something different everyday for months :) Cooking <3

Lol, yeah you should feel bad for me :P A hint of fresh, cold air can be nice, but not like this!! It feels like loads of tiny needles D:

You should make one!! Do it!!! Nothing arrogant about it :) And if you're ever gonna do an exchange fest, they're gold!

Yes please!! I'd be open for anything easy and vegetarian and quick for weekday dinners. Plus fish recipes. I find those especially hard to find good ones for.

Okay, I hope you realized what you asked for hahaha. There are several weblogs I often use with easy and delicious recipes on them. I often make noodle stir fries, which is basically 1) soaking noodles, 2) cutting vegetables, 3) make sauce, 4) stir fry vegetables, 5) throw everything together.

Stir fry:
(ingredient list can be a bit long, but if you have staples like lime juice, hot sauce, soy sauce and coconut milk, you can use that over and over again as these recipes basically all call for the same ingredients.)
Coconut curry noodle bowls
Singapore noodles with curry powder
Vegetarian pad thai (this is one of my favourites and ready in a whip)

Pasta:
Mushroom and pesto penne
Oven pasta bake with cheesy cauliflower sauce and mushrooms (not super quick as there’s some oven time, but not a lot of work and perfect for cold nights)
Sun-dried tomato pesto pasta with vegetables
Pasta with courgette, herbs and mozzarella (fairly quick, and I always bake the zucchini rather than frying them)

Tacos and fajitas:
Tacos with sweet potatoes and avocado
Fajitas with portobello
Burritos with kale and black beans

Miscellaneous:
Vegetarian chili (I always eat this with rice and the toppings as mentioned in the recipe)
Caponata (an easy Italian vegetable stew, delicious with crusty bread, some olive oil, and a piece of baked white fish like cod)
Melanzane alla parmigiana (an Italian cheesy eggplant oven dish, delicious with some crusty bread)
Roasted vegetables with peanut sauce and rice
Noodles with raw vegetables and peanut sauce
Shakshuka (delicious Middle-Eastern vegetable stew with eggs and spices)

Curries:
Not gonna give a recipe, but curries are always easy and delicious: heat some curry paste in a pan, threw in some coconut milk, and then whatever vegetables you want to throw in, prawns, tofu, chicken, whatever, and let it simmer until it’s done. In the meantime boil some rice, and you’re done.

I really really love that scene from canon too. When I first saw the films and they went to Diagon Alley I felt like Harry, that I couldn't get enough of looking at it. I so wanted it to be real and to go there <3

:D Erised!! I think I actually mentioned my love for that scene in the voice meme ages ago. Did you actually know that, or was it just luck that you used that scene as inspiration for my gift? I really love that scene. So vibrant and exciting. And I agree about the films! Really wanted to go there. I was so excited at the parallels in the fic <3

It was just happy coincidence. I didn't set out to write it, that way, I don't plan enough much when I am writing, but as soon as I imagined Harry going down the stairs and into the club, the connection with canon came to me, that it would be kind of the same feeling. Very glad it worked for you.

The not that important comment is still my favorite thing Harry is ever done. I was torn between using it and the song Home.

Oh yes, such an important moment! Really game changing. I kind of wish I'd already payed attention to the fandom at that point, just to witness the reaction it got! As it was, it just piqued my interest enough to get pulled in :)
