Why is that not more of a thing in Harry Potter? Not like Slytherin!Harry AUs, but Muggle AUs where they only keep their personalities and looks and relationships. From the top of my head I can only recall reading two, actually.
There are quite a few non-magical AUs in Remus/Sirius fandom. I've been thinking that it's got something to do with the rather limited canon material we have for the Marauders - there might be a limit to how many different versions of the same canon events you're interested in writing/drawing, and perhaps also reading. So non-magical AUs is a wonderful way of expanding the opportunities, and of course give them a happy ending ;) But for Harry and Draco, who both survive, there are so many possibilites within the canon world that maybe people don't feel the same urge to go non-magical?
