My art for Kinkfest

Just popping in to post my art from kinkfest! It's a bit of an angsty thingy where Ginny has a very desperate and unrequited crush. NSFW! The prompt was about angsty masturbation.

I have been terrible at following the fest, sadly. I'm in teacher practice and it's consuming me entirely, both time wise and energy wise. I'll be back on the other side of it :P

Title: Why her
Character(s): Ginny, unrequited Ginny/Hermione
Rating: R
Warnings: NSFW and angst
Summary: Ginny has a desperate crush, but she knows it can never happen.
Notes: writcraft, thanks for the wonderful prompt. This started out a bit simpler, but it felt a bit too in your face. So I took your "go as angsty as you like" at face value and added a ton of angst. Hope you like it!
Thanks so much to gracerene for very helpful feedback and cheerleading <3

comments

Claiming my Erised art

I actually made two things this year :D

My assigned giftee was pygmy-puffy. While I'm always a bit terrified to draw for other artists, they had a lovely and inspirational sign-up. And their wish for "soft pastels" made me want to try something new. So I made lineart and found some beautiful water colour brushes for photoshop online and some lovely soft colour palettes. This multi-panel thing is what I came up with.

Title: Tiny dogs and surprise visitors
Rating: General Audiences
Art Medium: Digital
Warnings: Past Relationship
Content/Enticements: fluffy flat faced dogs, happy ending
Summary: It's been years and Draco knows that he ought to let it go, but he can't help wondering what might've been.
Artist's Notes: Dear pygmy_puffy, thank you for your lovely signup. It was such great inspiration for me, and it made me try out a style I haven't before which was a lot of fun. I saw you wanted atmospheric scenes, pastel colours, fluffy, flat faced animals and glimpses of everyday life and your prompts mentioned cottages and rural life. So I mixed it all together, and this is what came out (I'm sorry I went for a dog rather than a cat, but I know such a dog and she's adorable so I couldn't help myself). I hope you'll like it <3 Also huge thanks to Tami for volunteering to look it over for me. You were a great support and inspired me to add a panel. Lastly, thanks heaps to old and new mods for running such an excellent fest!

---

The second one was a pinch hit that the mods asked me to do, making something for thistle_verse who was also a pinch-hitter, and I was very happy I was able to do it :))

Title: We're alone just like you said
Rating: General Audiences
Art Medium: Digital
Warnings: None
Content/Enticements: mountainous landscapes and boys in love
Summary: Tired of the relentless media attention in the UK, Draco and Harry finally find some peace and quiet in the American wilderness.
Artist's Notes: Dear thistle-verse, I sneakily spied on your fandom social media in the hopes of coming up with something that would appeal to you. I hope what I ended up with might be to your liking <3 Thanks so much to gracerene Grace for lovely support and feedback, and to the mods, brilliant as always. The title is from "Conrad" by Ben Howard.

comments

Here's my art for this year's hd_erised :)
Thanks for all the lovely comments! I'll get back to them as soon as I can.

Title: A Quiet Morning
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Rating: G
Art Medium: Digital
Content/Enticements: nipples and dinosaurs?
Summary: There's this point in a relationship where everything is just... comfortable. A quiet morning is suddenly so much more.
Artist's Notes: Dear anokaba, thank you for your lovely signup. Your prompts for domesticity, shoulder kiss and dressing inspired me. I hope you like what I did with it. Thank you, as always, to my dear beta who gave me the encouragement and inspiration that I needed!
Disclaimer: All Harry Potter characters herein are the property of J.K.
Art: Parvati/Lavender for the Snowflake Challenge day 12

Day 12

In your own space, create a fanwork. Make a podfic, an icon, a sketch, a meta, or a rec list. Arts and crafts. Cross stitch. Draft an essay about a particular medium. Put together a picspam or a fanmix. Write a review of book you love, a ship manifesto, a you-should-be-listening-to-this-band essay. Create something.

So I finally managed to finish what I started for this one :) A little moment between Parvati and Lavender after the war.

Art under the cut, or on Tumblr.

comments

Snowflake Challenge 11 + 13

Day 11

Share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life.

Like, the obvious one is of course Harry Potter, because, obviously. I'm sure I've used that before though? But I don't know what else I should choose, so maybe I'll just talk about it some more. I think I haven't talked about this part before: English.

I read the first three books in one go when they'd all been translated into Norwegian (I think it might have been around the time the translation of Prisoner of Azkaban came out), and then had to wait for absolute aaages for Goblet of Fire (like half a year, but when you're 11 that's ages). And not only that - I had to wait further half a year for the Norwegian translation of it, which was torture. I remember I actually tried to read my half-sister's copy of the English version, but I was only 12 at the time, and with such a big book the challenge was a bit too much. But THEN when Order of the Phoenix came out, it was the summer when I was 14 and then I was determined - I would read it in English when it was released. And so I worked my way diligently through it, through Rowling's penchant for using weird words (I particularly remember 'protuberant') and I succeeded! I reread it in Norwegain when the translation came out, but it was the last book I did that with.

And so it opened a completely new world for me. If I could read an 800 page book in English, I could read anything! I've loved reading in English ever since, and I love the richness of the language. Maybe that's why I ended up studying English now?

I'll have to do Day 12 when I finish a thing I'm working on now *g*

Day 13:
In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private.

I'll set myself a fannish goal for this one - to be more active. To hang around more here, at least a couple of times a week, to draw more and.. stuff? I'll try to participate in a handful of fests (I think maaaybe Big Bang? If I can convince myself that some writer would like to have their fic illustrated by me XD). I won't be too ambitious, and rather pleasantly surprise myself than fail.

So, that's it for today folks :D

comments

Snowflake Challenge day 8-10

Day 8

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much.

The teachers were of course forbidden from mentioning the interview by Educational Decree Number Twenty-six, but they found ways to express their feelings about it all the same. Professor Sprout awarded Gryffindor twenty points when Harry passed her a watering can; a beaming Professor Flitwick pressed a box of squeaking sugar mice on him at the end of Charms, said, 'Shh!' and hurried away; and Professor Trelawney broke into hysterical sobs during Divination and announced to the startled class, and a very disapproving Umbridge, that Harry was not going to suffer an early death after all, but would live to a ripe old age, become Minister for Magic and have twelve children.
From Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Idk, I just really love this part. It's such a dark book in so many ways, with all of Harry's issues - everything he's going through, so this just felt like a little island of light and happiness and it made me smile.

Day 9

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

Oh, I don't know!! I haven't created that much the last year......

Okay, so I'll go for these:

This one of Harry I made at the end of last year. I just really like how it turned out.

This Ginny/Luna piece I made last summer, because Linny, also pride and London and I like the mood of it.

And lastly this James/Sirius piece I made for last year's kinkfest. (I also just realised I'd never replied to the comments on it #fail I'll have to do that.)

Day 10
In your own space, share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. (Or a few!) Tell us what makes it work for you, and why it appeals to you so much. Talk about what you like to see in fanworks featuring that theme most.

Oh, there are many things I really love, but maybe one of the things that resonates emotionally with me the most is a character's realisation/struggle/acceptance with their sexuality, their discovery of what that means and how good it feels to find out who they are, and coming out scenarios. When those are done in good ways, there's hardly anything that tugs on my heartstrings as much as that, and I really love when authors explore that. Especially subverting or challenging norms and figuring out who they are on their own terms.

comments

Let people tell you how amazing and awesome and loveable you really are.

Oh gosh this is an awkward one isn't it....
Snowflake Challenge day 4-6

Another day, another batch of Snowflakes :D

Day 4

In your own space, create a fannish wishlist. No limits on size or type of fanwork; just tell us what you’d like to see.

Oh gosh, what would I like?

- Some plotty and deep diving femmeslash!! Preferably Ginny/Luna or Parvati/Lavender, but everything goes.

- Other femmeslashy things

- As always fic/ficlet for my art <3

- Recs for something good that you'd think I'd like? Something edgy and subversive maybe? Or political?

- For you to tell me what artist/song/music you associate with drarry :)

Day 5

Recommend a fannish or creative resource.

I think I'll skip this one, because I've been so absent lately that I don't really know what's up :(:(

Day 6

Leave feedback for a fanwork. Or multiple fanworks. It can be as simple as I liked this to a detailed list of all the things you loved about the fanwork. The key is to leave some sort of feedback.

Did it!

comments

Snowflake Challenge day 1-3

Day 1

In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year?

I really like this challenge, and found it a fun way to start the year the previous times I've participated. It's a fun way to both interact and to reflect on fandom and my participation in it. I've also had a bit of an absence from fandom, so I'm sort of hoping it might kickstart my being more active again? Like, I know I've said this many times, so don't trust me *hangs head in shame*

Day 2

In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone.

Ohh there are many many things here. I've been lucky enough to meet fandom people a few times, both one on one and in bigger groups as part of meetups, and those are some of my favourite experiences that I've had. It's just so nice to meet someone you already know so much about you, and who knows about a part of my life I don't really share that much, so it seems so relaxing and natural from the get go <3

Also, I just have to mention this too since the challenge mentioned lovely comments, the comment birdsofshore left me after I drew Draco for her wonderful fic that she wrote me for erised two years ago. I was just so thrilled to be able to do something in return and then to get such lovely comments back from it. As if the fic wasn't enough of a reward as it was <3<3

Day 3

In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create.

I've read wayyy too little fic recently, having been swamped in school reading, so I'll rec a few lovely art pieces:

This absolutely hilarious picture by the eminent 8c, featuring the pairing.... Ron/Cormac? Didn't see that one coming :D

This awesome and chill 90s Ginny by brokenphalange.

And this absolutely heartbreaking picture of little Harry in the cupboard under the stairs by rijsamurai.

Whooo I did it! Only five more to catch up on (six by tomorrow). Easy peasy :D

Also massively wondering whether or not I should sign up for Big Bang. It's such a cool challenge, but also a bit intimidating D:

comments

Claiming my Next-gen art!

Hey *waves*

Here's the art I made for Next-Gen fest this year. Thanks for all the comments <3

Title: (Just know that) I want you back
Pairing(s): Albus Severus/Scorpius
Rating: PG
Medium: Digital
Content/Warnings: None
Summary: Of course Al wanted him back. His nervousness from just moments earlier suddenly seemed impossibly silly.
Artist's Notes: Dear prompter, this might not have been quite what you had in mind, but I hope you still like it! I really like this pairing, so I couldn't resist getting to draw them kissing a little. Title is from the song by HAIM.

Links: LJ/AO3

comments

Art: Harry the student

I should be reading for my exams, but since I'm a very sensible person I'm drawing Harry reading for his Auror exam instead. Now eating grapes and drinking wine and wondering what to do next. Maybe watch Stephen Fry's Oscar Wilde movie. That would be semi educational since we've covered Oscar Wilde in my literature course...

Anyways. Here's the Tumblr link and the pic itself is below the cut right here. It's very much safe for work.

comments

Art: Belated happy birthday, dicta!!

I actually did post this on Tumblr a few days ago, but haven't have opportunity to make a proper post here until now. So here it goes!

Title: The Orchard
Rating: G
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Summary:
Potter took a deep breath and started again, his voice slow and even. “Red and green flushed. Thick skin. Crisp when you bite into them, not juicy, but a bit of give. Not too hard. And sweet, like a pear.”

“Mhm. Are you imagining the taste?”

“Yeah,” Potter breathed. “Do we eat them now?”

“We do.” Draco lifted his apple towards his mouth, but opened his eyes before he took a bite. His Roundway sat in his hands, as mottled and soft as it had been when he picked it up.

Potter, on the other hand, stood facing him, his hands wrapped around a perfect Roundway Magnum Bonum, and dozens more dotting the leaves around his feet. Draco held his breath as Potter bit into it.”

- From Any Instrument by dica_contrion
Warnings: None
Medium: Digital painting
Artist's Notes: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! This is one of my favourite ever fics, so I couldn't resist making yet another drawing from it. You're an amazing person and a brilliant writer and I wish you all the best for the coming year <3<3

Tumblr-link

comments

Welcome to my journal

Since my sticky post disappeared somewhere deep in the archive when I imported my LJ, I figured I might as well make a new one.

This is mostly a fandom journal. I draw a bit of fanart and I read and flail. My main fandom is Harry Potter, and I more often than not do slash. Usually of the Drarry variety. All fandom-related stuff, including all my fanart will be unlocked. All personal stuff is flocked. I love new friends, so if you think we have something in common feel free to add me. I promise I'm not scary :) Although if your journal is mostly empty or I don't know you I won't automatically add you back. So if we've never interacted at all before it would be nice of you to drop me a little message or a comment here as well.

I'm on Tumblr, where I also have a 1d sideblog. Come and say hi to me there, if we're not following each other already!

If you're creating something for me, here's a post about my likes and dislikes. Ps, you're awesome.

Also, I'm hopeless and haven't got an updated masterlist. If you want to browse my art it's better to just check out my art tag.

BLANKET STATEMENT:
I'm more than okay with all transformative work of my art, but please let me know so I can be appropriately excited about whatever you've made! Please don't repost my art or edits of it anywhere without my express permission.

comments

A Dreamwidth backup question

Hiya!

In these unpredictable LJ days, I'll probably try to be more active on Dreamwidth than on Livejournal. I've not been good at keeping up with dw this far, but I'll probably just have to get used to it. I've been importing my posts there, and I was just wondering about stuff. Obviously a lot of my posts include pictures, i.e. my art posts, and they're mostly hosted in my livejournal scrapbook. Sooo, does anyone know if they get backed up on dreamwidth as well, or if I'll have to find a new place for hosting them? From what little research I did it seemed to me that DW doesn't have that same picture hosting option (although I might be wrong, and if some of you know more about it please let me know!!)

So really, two questions:
- If LJ ends up shutting down or throwing us out, will the pictures in my backed up posts on dw still have them, or do I have to edit all the posts to host the pictures elsewhere? (If so, does anyone have any good tips? I've been using photobucket a bit, but it's so slow and full of ads for me D:)

- For future posting on dw, does anyone know if there's a way to host pictures directly on DW, that I haven't been able to find?

ETA: If I open pictures from a dw post, I get a link like this: https://p.dreamwidth.org/a3d73d147767/2711932-105165/ic.pics.livejournal.com/anemonen/67514132/113575/113575_900.jpg -- so it includes the original lj address, but it IS a dreamwidth address.... What does it meaaaan. I'm not very computer savvy.

comments

Art: The usual rules

Title: The usual rules
Rating: G
Medium: Digital
Characters: Harry/Draco
Disclaimer: The characters belong to J.K. Rowling. No copyright infringement is intended and no money is being made by this fanwork.
Summary:

"Nice bed." I took a step towards Harry, trapping him against the dresser. He put his hands on my waist as I tipped up his chin towards me, the height difference wasn't much, a few inches, just enough that I had to bend my head slightly to kiss him.

I usually don't have patience for kissing but with Harry the usual rules didn't seem to apply.

- from Unexpected turn by oakstone730.

Notes: Dear oakstone730, I saw you wished for art for 'Unexpected Turn' for your Snowflake Challenge wishlist, and I wanted to give you that. It was such a lovely fic (so also thank you for pointing me in its direction), and I hope you like what I did for it! I suppose this can count as my Snowflake Challenge Day 7, because I completely fell off the challenge. The challenges from the last few days kind of stumped me, so I probably won't do the rest.

Crossposted at https://anemonen.livejournal.com/

comments

I've yet to read it all, and I had to take a little break, so will come back to the rest soon. So many great fics and art! Wow that fest always deliver, doesn't it :D Anyways, here's my contribution!

Title: Make the darkness fade away
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Rating: G
Art Medium: Digital paintings and sketches
Warnings: none
Summary: Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the lights.
- Albus Dumbledore

Only, sometimes that light can be found in the most unexpected places.

Artist's Notes: Dear, huldrejenta, thanks for your lovely sign-up; it was very inspiring. More than anything, I was taken by your sentence about Draco and Harry: "They both know light and darkness and can find what they need in each other." I thought that was so beautifully put. I took that and a few of your other likes and prompts and came up with this. Hope you like what I did with it! Happy holidays to you and your close ones <3 Thanks to the mods for being awesome, and to wonderful capitu for helping me brainstorm and beta.
Disclaimer: All Harry Potter characters herein are the property of J.K. I can't believe ♥_♥

Title: Six Hundred and Forty-Three Steps
Author: seraphina_snape
Pairing: Ginny/Luna
Rating: Teen and up
Words: 983
Summary: Luna visits Ginny on a summer day.

My thoughts: This is such a sweet little fic! Luna is being perfectly Luna, and the little glimpse of the start of their relationship is so lovely. An atmospheric and beautiful ficlet <3

comments

Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

- I always dream that someone will be inspired by my art to write something. So first wish - fic for my art.

- Ginny/Luna fic!

- I'm a very default icon kind of gal, but maybe it would be fun to have some for special occasions? Not character icons, but reaction icons sort of? Or funny ones?

comments

Snowflake challenge, day 5

Day 5

In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Soo, my reading lately has mostly consisted of Erised and some original mm novels, so I'm gonna rec my own gift as well as some of my other favourites from the fest and some arts from Tumblr. I'm still FAR from finished reading Erised, though, so there might be some amazing ones I've yet to read to. Also so much amazingness in everything there in general?

I'll just put in a general rec of all things Erised, art and fic. Because that fest is always so good. So so good.

Title: Into My Heart
Author: Anonymous
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco (dur) with a side of Ron/Hermione
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~19,000
Warnings: None
Content/Enticements: friends with benefits, UST
Summary: No strings…easy. Right? Unless you're Draco Malfoy and you're having sex with Harry Potter.

My thoughts: This was my gift \o/ It's a friends with benefits story, which is one of my favourite tropes. There's such an explosive chemistry between Harry and Draco, and so much pining from Draco. Some great side characters too, in their friends. Loved their friendships.

-----

Title: Bound To You
Author: Anonymous
Pairing(s): Draco/Harry
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~28,000
Warnings: None
Content/Enticements: Accidental Bonding, Cursed Bonding, Curse Breaker!Draco, Cartographer!Harry, Unusual Careers, Lots of sass, Mild angst, Pining, Slow burn.
Summary: Hag magic is capricious and unruly, and Harry and Draco are bound to stay by each other’s side until they can solve the riddle. In between long car trips, misty rain, and midnight star charts, they begin to understand each other.

My thoughts: Wow this story has such a cool premise, and it explores so many interesting things wrt magic and careers. Harry and Draco is bonded to a curse, and the way the curse works is so different and creepy and interesting and the author does such a great job in exploring Harry and Draco's developing relationship through it. So much cleverness in this story.

-----

Title: The Loathly Worm
Author: Anonymous
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~12,000
Warnings: See Erised post
Content/Enticements: Secret identities, evil ghosts, and a Loathly Worm. Oh, and the power of True Love!
Summary: When Draco Malfoy is forced to go undercover among the remaining Death Eaters in the aftermath of the war, the last person he expects to find there is Harry Potter.

My thoughts: Another very cool premise, with some really interesting takes on magic. And the story is told in such a different and interesting way too, sort of with flashbacks after the fact. Harry and Draco are both undercover in a Death Eater camp after the war, and are drawn to each other even not knowing who the other is at first. The story is intriguing and suspenseful and I love all the interesting details and their developing relationship.

-----

Title: A Ghost in the Garden
Author: Anonymous
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~27,000
Warnings: See Erised post
Content/Enticements: Aurors, casefic, partners, pining, awkward bed sharing, sexual tension, snark, society shenanigans, dragons
Summary: That night Draco dreams, and he is the ghost in his garden. He is both silvered figment and his own solid and flesh face pressing against the window, watching. Spinning and spun, haunting and haunted. Turned and turning, an open mouth with no sound.
Harry and Draco are thrown together on an investigation into a sinister political movement.

My thoughts: This fic is so beautifully written, with this sort of permeating melancholy that I really love. It explores the politics of the Magical world, which is something I find really cool, as well as being a great auror mystery. So many good characterisation and the character arc is beautiful. Wonderful story.

---

Okay, over to some beautiful Tumblr arts:

This drawing by dasstark might be one of my favourite portraits ever of Ginny. She looks so fierce and beautiful and cool and her hair is so stunning. I might be in love.

This incredibly beautiful picture of the Marauders by upthehillart. The whole vibe of the picture is so great, with the warmth of the Gryffindor commonroom and the light from the fireplace. Plus, Sirius is stunning, which I guess is as it should be.

Also this stunning little comic by 8c of Ginny and Luna is too adorable for words. *sighs happily*

---

Also, in the end, does anyone fancy some One Direction fics? Because in this rec post I go on about all my favourites, and let's face it, I won't miss an opportunity to flail about them ;)

comments

Snowflake challenge, day 1-3

Day 1

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Haha always difficult this one. I'm always more happy with my recent work than the older ones, so these are all fairly new.

The first one I posted very recently, this one (tumblr link) of Harry and Draco. It's slightly NSFW, but non-explicit.

Also quite happy with the drawing I made for the tropes fest this year. My trope was time travel (Tumblr link).

Lastly, I made a few drawings for the bookseries 'All for the game' by Nora Sakavic. The one I'm happiest with is probably this one of Andrew.

-----

Day 2

In your own space, share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life. Something that impacted on your consciousness in a way that left its mark on your soul. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I can't say anything other than Harry Potter here. Even though I entered fandom many years after I first read the books, they have influenced my life greatly both now and then. For one thing, it was the books that really opened my eyes to the fantasy genre. Another thing, it probably contributed a great deal to getting me to read books in English. After having to wait several months for the translation of Goblet of Fire, there was no way I could go through the same with The Order of the Phoenix. So I fumbled my way through it at age 14, and haven't looked back since. And then finally, it made me discover fandom and meet so many people that I love so dearly and I can't imagine my life without it.

-----

Day 03

In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

The biggest one here is a real life one, that I won't put in the details of here in a public post, but I'm going to make some big changes in my life, career wise, and I really look forward to that. Other than that I want to keep playing Rugby that I just started with, and get the hang of that. Fandom wise I want to be better at being consistently active, as well as further develop my drawing abilities.

----

( one complainy rl thing )

comments
